Overview Depression and Anxiety

Over 20% of Canadians will experience depression and/or anxiety at some time in their life; that means at least one in every household. Depression is NOT about character weakness, sin, or just a lack of faith. It is a medical condition that affects our body, brain, thinking, sleeping, energy, spiritual life, relationships and emotions. There are several very practical skills that you can learn to overcome your depression. However, the worst thing you can do is NOTHING! Like many illnesses, early detection means everything.

If you struggle with depression and/or anxiety, we strongly recommend that you speak with your medical doctor, and then call the Bayridge Family Center to learn more about our Mood Disorder program. It has a proven track record of helping people just like you.

This is support group is meant to supplement a counseling or mood disorder program, adding the necessary coaching resources. It is, however, open to all who find themselves wrestling with a low mood or anxiety, or just want to learn more about the road to recovery.
