What are Online Support Groups?

Sometimes we all need unique support that requires more than a few chapters of a book, a prayer, a sermon or even a one-day seminar. Our online support groups are meant to be a support for those who are traveling through life on a journey that is more of a marathon than a sprint.

There are times in life when the issues we deal with require more intentional support than our friends, families, churches, and even counselors, can provide. When we are wrestling with depression, anxiety, anger, divorce, grief or just getting through the teenage years, a safe group of people who know what they are talking about is worth everything. To meet with others who are going through the same challenges is just incredibly helpful. To do it right from the comfort of your own living room...now that is awesome!

How do the online support groups function?

While these groups are open to anyone, these groups are best suited for those who either have or are involved in a program / counseling. These groups supplement and support them through their recovery. These groups don't have a start or a finish; hence, you can join them at any time.

The online support groups function as secure groups that meet regularly (weekly or monthly). While there is usually a video training portion at the beginning of each session that can lead to lively discussion, the main purpose of the group is to address issues that are being wrestled with right now. In this way it has far less structure than the therapeutic groups. Discussion direction is dictated more by the needs of the group than by the lesson. It tries to meet you right where you are.
