Parenting is one of the most important jobs and yet can be the most difficult. In most cases we don't have hard-to-parent children, nor do we have bad parents. What we do have is lack of psychological expertise. When we lack this (as most people do), we have frustrated parents (who are doing the best they know how to) and frustrated children. They are going around the same mountain, again and again, with no forward motion to improvement.
